Ellie has enjoyed several teaching careers, including being a primary school class teacher in country and city schools, a creative arts music and drama demonstration teacher in disadvantaged schools, and an ESL teacher for adults. Ellie is a graduate from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, gaining qualifications as a secondary Music and English teacher and as a private piano teacher.
After teaching in secondary colleges, Ellie returned to primary teaching and for many years was a music and literacy specialist. Gifted education is an area of great interest, as is combining the arts with literacy. Adult music education is another area she loves.
On the piano-teaching front, Ellie has taught beginners through to 8th Grade. Choral accompanying, conducting and being concert organiser and president of an 80-member adult choir and orchestra are other hats Ellie has worn.
Since retiring from teaching, Ellie enjoys writing plays, poetry, literacy-boosting books and songs and piano and choral compositions. She also loves to travel with her husband, cook good dinners and grow favourite plants in their garden in Toowoomba, Queensland.
